Members of The Hay Group and their terrific helpers cleaned up our part of Shoal Creek at Beverly Sheffield Park. Plus we made more than 200 “seed mudballs” with riparian wildflowers and plants, then threw them in the field next to the pond and along the creek bed. It’s going to be a beautiful spring at the park this year!

As a part of our continuing support of the Austin community, The Hay Group team members provided a beautiful Holiday dinner for one of Foundation Communities’ residential facilities Monday night.

We fed more than 70 residents of the Spring Terrace Apartments a bountiful meal, mostly prepared by our staff. The residents were very appreciative of the Holiday meal, and especially the abundance of sweet treats!

One resident declared “it was just delicious and felt great to have such a lovely home-cooked meal.”

Foundation Communities is a local non-profit that provides people with an affordable, safe and attractive place to call home, as well as opportunities right at their doorstep to transform their lives.

Congratulations to the Austin’s team of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital advocates who hosted the most successful Lone Stars and Angels Gala – raising more than $318,000 – and celebrated the 10th anniversary of the event.  The event was chaired by the Firm’s John A. Hay III, who just completed his 4th year in that role.

“This year represents the reality come true of the vision laid out 10 years ago,” John said.  He added, “without the hours of hard work of the St. Jude staff and volunteers, this great event would never have been able to achieve the success it has.  I look forward to seeing the growth over the next decade.”

The 2016 Burnt Orange Benefit Tailgate, October 29, was a huge success.  A generous donation will be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, on behalf of the attendees.

With outstanding barbecue – thanks to Stephen Smith – great drinks, great music from the Texas K.G.B and Aaron Navarro, we also had former UT All American, Cedric Benson, the newest member of the Security National Mortgage Company’s team on hand for pictures.

Special thanks to all our sponsors this year – 12 Rivers Realty, Security National Mortgage Company, Farmers Insurance – The Boyd Insurance Agency, Treaty Oak Spirits and Distillery, Coors Light, Texican Restaurants, Barbecue Wife, Viking Fence, Big House Sound, Dog Trick Studios, Say Cheese and Gallagher Photography.

The Hay Legal Group PLLC hosted a Supper Club this week for residents of Spring Terrace apartments, one of the Foundation Communities’ facilities. Team members prepared and served a great dinner for more than 40 residents.

As part of our Help – Lead – Give volunteer program, this is one of the monthly events we sponsor to encourage our employees to give back to the community.

“It was a great time and rewarding experience. I’m so glad that The Hay Group offers us these opportunities to participate in the community,” said Brian Walsh.

Managing Partner, John A. Hay III, is one of the nominees for Austin Business Journal’s Best CEO Awards program. Winners in each category will be named at the invitation-only ceremony on Thursday, September 22.

“Running a company, no matter the size, requires a delicate balance of accountability and compassion,” said Will Anderson, ABJ Digital Editor.  Mr. Hay is nominated in the category of companies under $10,000,000 in revenue.

“I am honored and humbled to be nominated among this distinguished list of local CEO’s,” John Hay said. “The outstanding team of professionals at The Hay Legal Group PLLC all contribute to our success everyday.”

The Hay Group’s Help Lead Give program recently adopted a portion of Shoal Creek at the Beverly Sheffield Northwest District Park and will maintain it for the next year.  Our first clean up effort yielded 5 bags of trash plus an old backpack, comforter and a broken umbrella!

Several members of the Hay team came out on a hot afternoon after work and did an outstanding job removing debris. Future efforts will also include planting wildflowers and appropriate riparian plants. The effort is a part of the Keep Austin Beautiful Adopt-A-Creek program.

It's my park day

Members of The Hay Legal Group PLLC joined other Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA) members at Pleasant Valley Park on Saturday, March 5, for the Austin Parks Foundation It’s My Park Day. Part of the city-wide day dedicated to cleaning up area parks, more than 20 members were on hand to help.

Volunteers pulled hundreds of pounds of trash out of our city’s newest park at the end of Pleasant Valley Road in South Austin. Running out of trash bags was indicative of the amount of trash and debris gathered.

Our own Beth Coffey joins 10 others as finalists for the Austin Young Chamber’s ChangeMaker Award. For the past two years, the AYC has honored two inspiring leaders in the market.

At their 3rd Annual State of AYC Annual Meeting on February 26, they will recognize and pay tribute to two more individuals who are doing extraordinary things in the Austin community.

Beth is an active member of the Junior League of Austin, performing weekly with the Playhouse singers in area elder care facilities.  She is also a volunteer for Hospice Austin’s Big Hearts for Brave Hearts program, helping to raise funds for Camp Brave Heart for children who have lost loved ones.  And she participated in the Austin Board of Realtors’ Habitat for Humanity Holiday Blitz Build in December.
